Doctor Volunteer Activities

A recent article in the magazine "Orthopedics Today" noted that because of decreasing reimbursements physicians are working more hours and are less likely to donate their time for volunteer activities.  There is no doubt that in the Denver market there has been a trend of decreased payments with more on the horizon.  There is a proposal to markedly decrease Medicare payments to physicians pending in congress.  I would agree that the physicians at Panorama Orthopedics & Spine Center are working more than they did a decade ago.  However our physicians continue to donate their time for many activities that support our community.

Through both the clinic and our Foundation our doctors donate their time for a variety of activities.  Some of these include:

• Four annual Symposiums- Sports Medicine, Spine, Trauma and Spring Orthopedic Day, for continuing education of physicians, therapists, trainers and health care professionals.
• Quarterly public lectures on orthopedic topics.
• Numerous speaking engagements for public seminars, health fairs and events.
• The Bumps & Bruises Clinic, a free injury screening clinic on Saturdays for high school athletes.
• Providing physical exams to allow participation in High School Athletics.
• Providing medical coverage for a number of local high school, college athletics, and sports teams.
• Providing coverage for a weekly trauma clinic for uninsured trauma patients.
• Sponsoring the annual "Joint Jaunt" for total joint patients that raises money to provide a series of seminars on arthritis.
• Sponsoring numerous other educational programs for nurses, therapists, nurse case managers and the community.

The physicians at Panorama Orthopedics & Spine Center realize that we are a part of our community and strive to do our part to improve it.
