Medical icon John Froelich, MD

Dr. John Froelich is a board certified Denver orthopedic surgeon at Panorama Orthopedics. He specializes in the care of the hand and wrist and treats everything from traumatic bone, tendon and complex nerve injuries of the hand and wrist, to chronic issues such as arthritis, dupuytrens contractures, trigger fingers, carpal and cubital tunnel syndrome.

When Dr. Froelich was in medical school he fell in love with orthopedics.  “I grew up in a family where my dad was in construction and if something around the house broke – we fixed it.”   Because of this background, the mechanical nature of orthopedics was instantly appealing.  As a subspecialist in hand surgery, he liked that is was based on precision as well as the impact treating the hand had on patient’s lives. “I love that I have the privilege to work with my patients to help them get back to doing the things they love,” he says.

Dr. Froelich grew up throughout Illinois and he attended school at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky.  He went on to complete medical school and his residency at Southern Illinois University.  Dr. Froelich then completed his fellowship in hand surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.  There he also received special training in microsurgery of the hand.

Prior to joining Panorama, Dr Froelich was an Assistant professor at an Academic orthopedic residency program working directly in training residents and hand surgery fellows.  He is involved with orthopedic research and has published numerous peer reviewed articles and has authored book chapters.  Dr Froelich has presented research and given presentations at national meetings for the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Clinical Orthopedic Society, and the  American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH). Dr. Froelich is on the board of the Colorado Orthopaedic Society and also serves on the ASSH Government Affairs Committee.  He currently serves on the board of editors for Orthopedics.

In his free time, Dr Froelich and his family enjoy everything about Colorado and are always looking to enjoy the outdoors – Bike riding, soccer, skiing, and the mountains.  Dr Froelich is also a Chicago sports enthusiast especially the ever frustrating Chicago Cubs.

Dr. Froelich’s care philosophy, “Injuries to the upper extremity can have a profound effect on one’s ability to perform their daily activities. I believe that it is my privilege to work with you to correctly identify your ailment and create a treatment plan that will allow you to get back to your busy life in a safe and efficient manor. My team and I look forward to having the opportunity to help you get back to being you.”
