Imaging Services
Here at Panorama, we offer in-house imaging services including MRI, X-ray and weight-bearing CT scans, so that you can be scheduled quickly, following protocols recommended by your doctor.
Types of Imaging
MRI
Magnetic Resonance Imaging uses powerful magnets and radio waves (no radiation) to create detailed pictures of soft tissues like muscles, ligaments, tendons, cartilage, and spinal discs. MRI is especially good at showing injuries to these soft tissues that don’t show up well on X-rays.
Advanced Imaging – requires insurance authorization and a separate appointment.
Weight-bearing CT Scan
A CT scan (also called a CAT scan) uses special X-rays and computer technology to create detailed pictures of bones, joints, and other structures inside your body. Weight bearing CT scans are taken while you’re standing, which helps us see how your bones and joints work together when supporting your body weight.
Advanced Imaging – requires insurance authorization and a separate appointment.
X-ray
X-rays use a small amount of radiation to create pictures of bones and dense tissues inside your body. They’re quick and commonly used to check for broken bones, joint problems, and other bone-related conditions.
Basic Imaging – commonly takes place with your clinic appointment.
How it Works
For advanced imaging (MRIs and CT scans), you will follow the following process:
- Provider Order: Your provider orders your MRI and submits for insurance authorization.
- Scheduling: Our team typically calls patients within 48 hours of receiving the provider order.
- Authorization: This typically takes 3-5 business days after your appointment is scheduled. However, timing ultimately depends on your insurance plan.
- Payment: You’ll receive a text with a financial estimate. Payment is due at time of service.
If you haven’t received your estimate by the day before your appointment, call Radiology Scheduling at 720-497-6694.
Additional Considerations:
- The following require referral to outside facility:
- Pacemaker
- Brain Aneurysm Clip
- Implanted Stimulator
- Heart Valve (Mechanical) – For a bovine valve, we will need an implant card before scheduling.
- Internal Cardiac Defibrillator (ICD)
- Programmable Shunt
- Cochlear Implant
- If a Hoyer Lift is needed
- If you have a different implant, please email implant card to mriimplantinfo@panoramaortho.com
- Tell your provider if you’re concerned about small spaces/loud noises – medication may be available that can help.
- Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and leave jewelry at home. You may be asked to change into scrubs or remove clothing with metallic fibers.
