Meet Ravand Sam Khazai, MD

Dr. Rav Khazai is a board-certified orthopedic trauma surgeon at Panorama Orthopedics & Spine who brings extensive international experience to complex trauma care. His diverse training across continents, from one orthopaedic trauma fellowship at the UC Davis Medical Center in California to a second orthopaedic trauma fellowship at the prestigious CHUV Medical Center in SwitzerlandAfter his fellowships, he returned to the states to practice as an orthopedic trauma surgeon in Boston and teach as a professor at the Boston University School of Medicine.  He strongly believes in passing on his knowledge to the next generation of medical professionals and continuously seeks out opportunities to contribute to the medical community through research and teaching.

Dr. Khazai’s clinical expertise spans complex fractures, particularly those of the pelvis and acetabulum, complex reconstructions, deformity correction, and limb-lengthening procedures. He is dedicated to restoring function and relieving pain, whether providing immediate care following traumatic injury or performing corrective surgery for long-term complications.

His philosophy of care centers on treating each patient as a unique individual rather than just focusing on the injury. Dr. Khazai emphasizes early mobility, stable fixation, and biologically friendly surgical techniques, including minimally invasive fracture surgery, to optimize patient outcomes. He believes in establishing personal connections with patients, recognizing that recovery is a collaborative effort, and is known for his compassionate approach in guiding patients through both the physical and emotional aspects of their healing journey.

Outside of his medical pursuits, Dr. Khazai enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife through activities like running marathons, scuba diving, and hiking.
