Background: I was informed of Dr. Ellman by glowing remarks from another Colorado orthopedic surgeon several years ago. At this time, I had already undergone bilateral hip surgeries for FAI and labral tears by a different surgeon in a different state with limited success. From the very first appointment, the treatment I received from Dr. Ellman and his team was notably more wholistic, personal, and thorough. The Difference: Dr. Ellman and PA Wright perform a majority of the in person consultations and their bedside manner is exceptional. They took time to objectively understand the physical symptoms I was experiencing in objective detail, they carefully explained what they thought the best course of action was and why, they acquired detailed imaging to test their hypothesis, and they iterated on each of these things to ensure this was medically and personally the best path forward. My surgery included labral reconstruction and FAI femoroplasty and was performed with very thoroughly. The surgical outcome depends on skilled orthopedic treatment and careful postoperative care. All aspects of this treatment plan were thoroughly communicated both pre- and post-op. Dr. Ellman maintains a working relationship with top-notch Physical Therapists in the region which dramatically adds to his team’s ability to understand and improve the surgeries outcome. Dr. Ellman and PA Wright remained very detailed in follow-up appointments as the recovery progressed. Their thorough involvement in the long-term surgical results and ongoing medical research helps them improve and validate their already great approach to medical treatment. Each of them has echoed my remarks above about him and his team’s gold standard approach to medical treatment and exceptional surgical abilities. Regardless of where I move to next, I will travel back to Dr. Ellman before seeing anyone else for any hip medical issues in the future.
