Meet Jacob Hartline, MD

Dr. Jacob Hartline is a sports medicine orthopedic surgeon specializing in knee and shoulder arthroscopy, knee preservation (including meniscus and cartilage surgery), ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff injuries, shoulder instability surgery, shoulder arthroplasty, and fracture care.

Dr. Hartline treats people, not diagnoses. He believes understanding who a patient is and what their goals are matters as much as any X-ray or MRI. Shared decision-making is a critical part of quality care, in his view. As a former collegiate distance runner, he’s especially passionate about helping active people get back to the activities and lifestyles they love. He sees his role as extending well beyond the operating room. He guides patients through setbacks and celebrates milestones throughout the entire recovery process.

Dr. Hartline was drawn to this community’s active, motivated population. He hopes to partner with patients ranging from high-level competitive athletes to weekend warriors to help keep the community moving. He chose Panorama Orthopedics for its commitment to pairing cutting-edge orthopedics with a patient-centered culture. That combination empowers physicians to provide high-quality, outcomes-driven care.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Hartline enjoys running and marathoning; he’s a Boston Marathon qualifier. He also likes backpacking, playing bass guitar, skiing, and spending time with family. He has cared for athletes at the high school, collegiate, and professional level. This includes serving as team physician for a high school football team in Maryland and as an assistant team physician for University of Pittsburgh Football. He was also a fellow physician at the 2026 NFL Combine with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He has provided care for athletes at the University of Maryland, Carnegie Mellon University, Robert Morris University, and Duquesne University as well.
