Dr. Peter Gold is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon in Denver specializing in adult hip and knee arthritis and joint replacement surgery. At Panorama Orthopedics & Spine Center, he delivers advanced, patient-centered care with a strong emphasis on shared decision-making.

Surgical Approach to Knee Replacement:

• Robotic-Assisted Knee Replacement with Mako
  With 3D CT-based planning and real-time ligament balancing, Dr. Gold customizes each procedure to the patient’s anatomy, enhancing precision, consistency, and minimizing soft tissue damage.
• Quadriceps-Sparing Knee Replacement (Subvastus Approach):
  Dr. Gold uses a minimally invasive technique that avoids cutting the quadriceps tendon and muscle, helping patients recover with less soft tissue disruption.
• Partial Knee Replacement vs. Total Knee Replacement:
  When arthritis is confined to one of the three compartments of the knee, Dr. Gold will recommend a partial knee replacement. This approach preserves healthy bone, cartilage, and ligaments—often resulting in faster recovery and a more natural-feeling knee. When arthritis involves two or three compartments, Dr. Gold will recommend a total knee replacement. Note: both partial and total knee replacements use robotic assisted and quadriceps sparing techniques.

Training & Academic Leadership

Dr. Gold graduated Summa Cum Laude from Tulane University and earned his medical degree at Tulane Medical School. He completed orthopedic residency at NorthShore-LIJ in New York, receiving awards for humanism and research, and completed fellowship training in adult hip and knee reconstruction at the prestigious Rothman Orthopaedic Institute in Philadelphia.

He has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles, presented research nationally and internationally, and is a leader in the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS). He currently serves on several committees within the Young Arthroplasty Group (YAG) and was an AAHKS Health Policy Fellow, advocating for surgeons and patients in Washington, D.C.

A Personal Perspective on Healing

In 2015, Dr. Gold was shot while stopping a kidnapping in New Orleans.

“Becoming a patient myself changed everything,” he says. “I understand the fear and vulnerability. My goal is to bring clarity, confidence, and compassion to every step of your care.”

Inspired by that experience, he co-founded Strong City, a nonprofit supporting youth and grassroots organizations in New Orleans.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Gold enjoys spending time with his family, snowboarding, playing golf, practicing yoga, traveling, and seeing live music.
